WESEE
WESEE is a voice-first mobile app designed with and for blind street snack vendors, created for competition. The idea came from direct interviews with blind vendors who sell snacks on foot and are frequently grazed by motorcycles because they cannot perceive approaching traffic. Typing is not an option for them, so the app is driven entirely by speech: the camera feed is described aloud, telling the user what is ahead and acting as a companion eye. I ran the full design process myself, starting from empathizing through field interviews and observing how the vendors move and sell, then defining the problem and its constraints (audio-only input and output, one-handed use while walking, low cognitive load). From there I ideated the assistant, navigation, and community concepts, built the prototype, and tested it directly with blind users. Every round of testing fed an iteration: voice-based onboarding and role selection (path guide or companion needed), the WeRay assistant's spoken feedback on what the camera sees, audio turn-by-turn directions, community reports of accessible or hazardous spots, and accessibility settings for voice, contrast, and text size.
